It's a monosynth that uses a new/different oscillator design so the sound you get is different then other synths available. You can still get some classic analog synth sounds but Pendulate will also give you some new sounds to help you stand out. You can get the Pendulate free vst synth plugin from the Eventide website. This is a free vst instrument that you should add to your vst library.
